Personal observations of the career prospects of my students

Amidst the pessimism of Hong Kong economy, I have some personal observations to share.

In fact, as a certified career services provider, I am often invited by my students to serve as the academic referees (on both undergraduate and postgraduate levels) for their further study or job applications. In the field of scientific research and biomedical sciences, I can confirm that the market is quite good (or at least, not too pessimistic) both locally in Hong Kong and globally around the world. This is not surprising as the world is currently competing for talents; where life science/biomedical science is one of the important industries. Therefore, life science students should take this opportunity of the structural change of global economy and equip themselves to become a talent by, for example, entering the industry and/or doing a relevant doctoral degree; be particularly reminded that one should catch up with the disruptive technology, or s/he could be knocked out of the game earlier than anticipated.

In addition, thanks to the Teaching Development and Language Enhancement Grant kindly supported by the Chinese University of Hong Kong, my colleagues and I have the opportunity to join the talent competition party by our global recruitment campaign. The progress is nice and we expect to have our talent in life science education technology by May 2024. This is another personal experience to share that life science/biomedical science is an important field; which is the crucial part of the domain knowledge. After their first degree major in life science, students ought to cheer up to equip themselves for their future career in the context of the latest disruptive technology.
