PGT Biochemistry and Travel Medicine

It has been a fruitful summer in 2024. I offered a brand new three-day course titled ‘Biochemistry and Travel Medicine’. I designed this course based on the contents of my other courses offered for the Program of the Gifted and Talented; I wished to put all those interesting topics and practical knowledge I missed in my other courses into this new course. On Day 1, the topics were about travel and food; I would like to go through some healthy diet as the beginning. On Day 2, the topics focused on environmental facts during travel. Some ideas of emergency were integrated. Lastly on Day 3, various medical problems would be covered and explained. In particular, the medical problems were relevant to adventurous travel. Gratefully, 21 lovely students joined us for three intensive Fridays on 16, 23, and 30 August. I decided to arrange the course on Fridays this summer because I wished my students to experience more about the campus life on the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK); where there were more university students around and more shops were open as usual as compared with weekends. In my humble opinion, this was particularly important for resuming normal face-to-face activities and social life after many years of social distancing during COVID. Hopefully, they would not only learn something useful but also get to know more about CUHK.
